Reflections in our eyes

I look into her eyes and I see my reflection.

I don’t really know her, not well any way.

But I see myself reflected in her eyes.

I know this is simple physics, but somehow it feels like there is more to it.

Isn’t every interaction we have with a person somehow a reflection of our selves? Isn’t every interaction we have somehow mirroring something of us in the other person, and vice versa?

Isn’t every time we look into someone’s eyes not a way we see ourselves, in whatever form or shape, or however clearly or unclearly?

Because every time we look into someone’s eyes, we are mirrored in them.

Every time our soul interacts with another, we are somehow mirrored by theirs.

Every time we interact with someone, they react to how we treat them, what we say, what we do. And we find ourselves in them. And they in us.

Every interaction we have always influences us somehow, because every time we look into someone’s eyes, we are mirrored in their eyes.

With every interaction I have, I somehow reflect the person I look at.

And I wonder, when people look into my eyes – do they see Jesus reflected there?

Am I close enough to Him that, when people look at me, they see Him reflected because my eyes, always and continually, are raised to Him?

Are my eyes fixed enough on Him that He is seen there, shining brightly, reflected in my eyes? Reflected in the windows to my soul?

I believe if I am close enough to Him, then His reflection will be seen, HAS to be seen, because it’s simple physics: The closer we are to a person, the clearer we see ourselves in their eyes. And the clearer they are in ours.

The more we get to look through the windows into the depths of someone’s soul, the more we will find ourselves in it, and the clearer they will be mirrored in our eyes.

I don’t need to be perfect. I don’t need to have it all figured out. I don’t need to always know what to do or say.

All I need to do is fix my eyes on Jesus.

If I look to Him in anything and everything, His reflection will be mirrored in my eyes. And He will be seen by anyone who looks at me closely enough.

And when they look, I want them to see Him.

I want to have Jesus in my eyes.

Martha
Hi. I'm Martha, a Christian woman just like you. I love Jesus, and want to lead a life that evolves around Him. Besides that, I also love food (the healthy and the not-always-so-healthy), music and books. I thrive when I get to have deep conversations, and I absolutely adore roses. I seek to find beauty wherever I go, because I believe we can find it everywhere. I also love to connect with people, talk all things faith and share the hard things in life. I believe we need each other, especially in difficult moments. I'm so glad you're here, and would love to connect with you.
